It All Matters

Hey friends, wanted to pop in and say Hey and share this really awesome video my eldest daughter took and shared with me.

It got me thinking. Well I already knew but I reflected once again. Everything we teach our children, everything we say and do and how we respect ourselves, others and nature our children will learn from us.

It was really wonderful and warmed my heart that my daughter was able to stop and enjoy nature and record such a site and experience.

Hope you enjoy this short video and please take in the amazing sounds in the background.

Ciao for now :D

The First

Hello hello friends. It’s been awhile since I sat and blogged.  So much going on with the school year coming to an end.

With that said, I am soooo beyond thrilled to share some really exciting, serious news with you!!! Ok, so my son, whom I had in my teen years, is now 21 years old. He has just recently completed his last year of University and graduates this year.  How proud is this mom? Proud beyond belief!

If graduating from University was not enough, God decides to throw in Alex graduating with a high achievement record!

I’m going to post the letter he received from the Dean of the University (I asked permission to post ;)).

So here it is;

Oh goodness me, I am so happy for him. This guy of mine has worked so hard. He kept his focus and stayed on track. What a victory.

This Friday will be the ceremony. It will take the Hand of God to keep me in my seat. When I hear his name I’m going to want to jump up and down and holler “woooohooooo, that’s my boy”!!! Hahahaha, could you imagine my son if Idid that? hahahaha. Mind you, he’d probably expect it. ;)

I will definitely post pictures and a possible video.

Well, gotta run. Ciao for now and God bless <3

Life Savers in Three Flavors

Well hello there! I pray all is well with you and you are having a fabulous day :D

I’m so excited to share my latest interview with you. This interview was done with such a wonderful young lady who works with an organization called Pregnancy Care Centre. This organization provides help, support, encouragement and spiritual guidance for young moms.

For all you moms out there check out; IAmNotAlone.ca for more info about this organization.

Here’s the interview, it’s a short two minute video. I hope you can take a peek ;)

Friends, I cannot thank you enough for all your support over the past while. God bless <3

Through The Eyes of The Beholder

So I watched this pretty cool semi documentary that was posted to Facebook, about how women view themselves. To no surprise, all the women interviewed had pretty much the same answer. In a nut shell, they all disliked their bodies and saw themselves as “ugly”.

How sad.

I was there for many years. I was like those women for a very long part of my life and I’ll be honest, if I’m not connected to my Creator and taking care of myself, I can slip into the false beliefs once again.

How does this happen? Do you have any idea? Any idea at all? How is it that so many women around the world have a poor body image of themselves?? And what on earth is the why behind it?

I can only share from my own experience. I lived a life of comparing, trying to be those “perfect” women in magazines, trying to create some sort of perfect beauty to please everyone else. I went as far as to starve myself and when that wasn’t good enough, the internal self bashing with name calling and feeling worse for not being able to achieve the “standard”.

Society doesn’t help at all. Society puts there ridiculous standards on how a woman “should” look. We hang onto what society “feels” or think it “knows” what beauty is.

What is true beauty to you? Is it looks? Is it money? Is it fame? Is it the “perfect” body (even though there is no such thing)? Is it what you “own”? What does it mean to you?

I can confidently share with you my explanation of true beauty. It took me many years to get where I am today and it took a lot of re-programming my mind and thinking. Not only about myself but about the world outside of me.

I must make something very clear. This was not something I was able to do on my own. Being on my own and living for this world and experiencing situations that destroyed the thoughts of myself was what helped get me to the pit of ugliness. Ha! Funny you know! Having such a poor self image and saying mean and nasty things about myself is what is ugly! Isn’t that crazy? Here we women go around comparing ourselves to other women, putting ourselves in competition with them trying to be “better” more beautiful, more sexy and all the while becoming uglier with our attitude and hatred by the minute! Goodness me! And not to mention how this has a ripple effect and reeks havoc in our relationships! Wow, the enemy of this world doesn’t have to work very hard to get us feeling badly about ourselves does he?

Friends, ladies, gentlemen, lets get to the raw beauty we posses. We need to know WHO we are and WHOSE we are! Until I came into the beauty with God, I was no where near being beautiful or loving myself. Beauty for me is having a clean open heart. It is being able to love those who are unlovable, It is respect for one’s self and it is the care and gentleness one is able to extend to one’s self. Beauty is looking at yourself and saying, “you are amazing”, It’s being able to actually look at one’s self in the mirror and like what you see. I was unable to look at myself in the mirror for many years. I hated, I loathed the person starring back at me. Today by God’s grace I am able to linger and look at myself in the eyes with a heart of love and have gratitude for who I am. For what I see.

I want to encourage you today, start changing the old tapes in your mind. It’s hard but it’s doable, I am proof of that! Do it today, look at yourself and say something nice. Stop comparing and holding yourself to society’s standard and get back to reality and get back to God who has created such a beautiful being. YOU!

I can go on and on about this and I have, hehe, But I will leave you with this;

Charm can fool you and beauty will trick you, but a woman (or man (I’m throwing that bit in)) who respects the Lord shall be praised. Proverbs 31:30

This scripture helped me change my views on myself.  Learn it, know it. You are so much more than what society “thinks” or thinks they “know”. Let us stand together and take ourselves back! We are worth it and we are soooo much more!

Amen! :D

Will You Join Me?

pic for may 2

I got this photo from Facebook. It will be the second year that I will participate in this event.

As many of you know, I am a thriving Survivor of childhood sexual abuse. I have willingly done a lot of work to overcome the effects this abuse has had on my life. It has been one heck of a journey. One journey that I would not trade for anything. I have, and am becoming an incredible human being.

I am inviting you to please join me and many others in wearing purple Friday May 2nd in support and awareness of sexual abuse. This abuse must be brought out in the open and we are they only one’s who can help put a stop to this. It is horrific! Friends, no child, no man or woman should ever have to suffer at the hands of another. Sadly in society today, the exploitation of young human beings is accepted. No one stops to think of how they objectify and add to this abuse when they use children, men or women for their viewing pleasure or worse!

Please take a moment to think about this. If you have children, it could easily happen to them.

And friends, let us think of the men and women who are forced into providing services for people’s pleasures. The abuse and torture they endure.

Let us take a stand. Will you stand with me and let people know, we will not tolerate or add to this abuse!

From one Survivor to another, from one human being to another, let us come together and take a stand!

Lets get our purple on! You’ve got plenty of time to find some snazzy outfit ;)

Thanks for your support. Together we are stronger, God bless :D

C`Mon have Some Fun!

Hey there! If you’re on Spring Break with little one’s, here’s a really cute and fun craft idea you can do with them.

My youngest daughter Rebekah (who is now 16 years old), reminded me about this just this morning. She saw an empty tissue box and said, “hey mom, remember when I use to put these on my feet?” I certainly do! My kids and I had a lot of fun coming up with fun silly things to do. I would save up these boxes and we decorated them, tied long pieces of thin rope to them and the kids would put their little feet inside them and walk around with them. It was so cute and very fun. I had totally forgotten about this until Bekah reminded me.

It also made me feel very happy inside that she had that memory.

So if you’re looking for something to do during this spring break, round up some tissues boxes (and if they’re full, take out the tissue, it’s ok) some markers or paint and have fun!

You know, it’s these wonderful moments that kids will remember. Let loose, and if you’re really daring, I dare you to find a spot on the wall and let the kids paint it!! Ooooo, now that is a blast! And how’s about having a total wear your clothes backwards day?

These were (and sometimes still) are things we have done.  Through the challenging times of life, we all need to let loose and have fun. A good fun that helps us and nurtures us and our family.

Yesterday my niece spent the day with me and after a lot of activities and fun, she said to me, “Auntie, you’re the most fun adult I know, you let us do so many things” My heart melted. And you know, it’s not anything that costs money or requires too much. It’s my time, my love and really being present with them and enjoying the time. Not worrying about what needs doing or if I need to be somewhere. It was really nice to hear that.  So C’mon, forget the housework and dishes, get out there, have fun and be a kid.Tthey will remember it forever! And it`s so worth it!! :D

Happy fun day to you!

Here`s a picture of Bekah`s foot. Yup, she put it in there again after she remembered hehehe. So cute :)

Investments

I don’t know what brought this to my attention but it got me thinking.

Investments.

It makes me think about what takes my time, my thoughts and my energy. To be honest sometimes Facebook and my social media takes a lot of my time. I invest too much time into that. Yes it is important to where my carreer is going but it can easily distract and take more of me than I’d like.

Investments. Hmmmm.

When we come to the end of the day and we are baffled at where our time went, do we think back over the day and think of where we have invested that time? When the kids ask to play or when they want to talk, are we readily available or are we frazzled because time has gone or something else needs our attention?

Do we even invest time in ourselves? To love, to nurture ourselves? How about the time we spend in the spiritual realm? Left overs?  What about our relationships? Does a screen take up most of that time? Is that what we invest in? How about work? Yes, yes, yes, work is important as it is a means of providing for our families, but ask yourself honestly, do you invest more time there than you do at home? Hmmmm. It is an eye opener isn’t it??

I can tell you, where ever your time is invested in most is where your heart truly lays.

Kids grow up quickly. Relationships will crumble under the pressure of trying to “compete” for investment. We ourselves will sooner or later begin to fade away if we ourselves don’t become an important  investment. Whatever we want in life needs our investments.

Want better relationships? Invest. Want more spirituality? Invest. Want more you time? Invest. A Better life? Invest.

Be mindful of what you allow to gain your attention and investment. Is it honoring? Is it helpful? Is it relationship building? Does it help make you a better person? Does it benefit your family? These are good questions to help us, guide us.

May your day be full of happy Investing today. May it be fruitful for you and others. :)

Does Anyone Still Do It Anymore?

What a fantastic evening!

Wow.

Family dinner time. Yup, that’s what I’m talking about. Our family still does it. In fact, it is just a normal part of our daily routine.

Do you have family dinner times? Is it something that is part of the day?

Yes, yes some nights there’s one or two of us missing because of work or school schedules but for the most part, we meet up at dinner time. It’s a time to release and unwind. Some of our best laughs are done there and yup, some of our chaotic moments happen there too. But this is a time, out of all our busy schedules, where we can re-connect. Connection in family, especially with our kids is so important. Kids need to feel connection to feel “a part of”, feeling that “part of” needs to be family, if not they go out searching and looking for connection in the wrong places. For us, this is a pretty special family thing to do, and continue. If you don’t already do this, why not try it out? Make a commitment to have family dinner time every night this week together. Even if it’s just for dessert ;)

Tonight felt extra special for me for some reason. I felt God was there with us. Oh what a feeling. I had Christian music playing in the background all day today and over dinner I heard the kids humming and singing along to them. We had brief conversation about God and, oh goodness, it was such a sweet, gentle time tonight. I was overjoyed. Clean up was done with no issues of who was going to do what or when. The minutes flowed by with such grace and ease.

I cannot begin to explain how I feel. Our kids are older and all of us as a family are still able to connect and be together and enjoy our company. That my friends is the love of God. That is God in me. That is God in them. For all we have been through, for all the hard times, God has shown up and has made this family stronger than I could ever imagine. There’s true love here. Love that in years past, I was afraid to feel, afraid to receive. Now, there is an abundance of true love overflowing that I am willing and able to receive and take it in. And most importantly, GIVE out. That is God.

Ahhh, what a feeling. I’m glad we still do it ;)

As always, thank you for reading. :D

Today’s Post

Alrighty, here’s another video by moi ;) hehe

I just “love” the cover frame that was chosen. haha

I hope your day is beyond magical for you!
